2009 SUMMER CHILDREN'S CLASSES

Weave Away!

Did you know that weaving has been around for thousands of years?  You will discover the history of weaving and learn how to use various materials, such paper, fabric, or yarn to create weavings to use, to hang, or even become 3-dimensional!  Please bring in one spool of yarn of any color to use in class.  (Parents: Have old spools of yarn and don’t know what to do with them?  Bring them in to be use in class to be transformed into art!)

Awesome Abstract Painting

Paintings can be done in various styles, techniques, and materials.  You will learn fun and innovative ways to paint and learn how to express yourself through color!

Collage with Style

This will be an extension from the “Awesome Abstract Painting” class but welcomes all new students.  Many of the alternative painting techniques can be used for fun, creative collage pictures.  These collage techniques are very similar to how the wonderful book artist, Eric Carle, created the children’s book, “The Very Hungary Caterpillar.”

Painting with the Masters

Ever wonder how Leonardo da Vinci, Claude Monet, or Pablo Picasso painted their paintings?  Learn how the great master painters painted and discover new and exciting techniques to create your own masterpiece!  This is a three day workshop.

Clay Creations

If you like working with you hands and playing with mud, then this is the class for you!  Learn how to create a unique bowl, sculpt a creature, and create a mask with personality out of clay!  This is a two week workshop.

Drawing Essentials

Drawing is one of the foundations that will help an artist succeed in any area of visual arts.  Learn how to draw from direct observation, landscapes, animals, and explore new techniques.  You will work with various materials, such as pencils, charcoal, pastels, and even collage!

 Watercolor Collage

Experience the magic with watercolors!  Explore special watercolor techniques that transform before your eyes!  You’ll learn how to create beautiful paintings and also layer various papers to create a unique collaged masterpiece!
